Our Personnel

Carole Spurling and her partner, started B&J Computers, Inc. in 1995 in the basement of her home.  She has successfully grown this business to what it is today.  A woman of many hats, Carole is not only a senior partner and President of B & J Computers, Inc. she is the firm's Senior Technician who also does web-design, systems management and is our primary server technician.  Carole, a 1993 Graduate of SIU’s College of Engineering, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology.  In addition, she has completed course work for a Master of Science in Manufacturing Systems.  Carole’s experience, as a business partner, business manager and technician have provided her with a practiced eye enabling her to help our clients find solutions to the problems and challenges involved in running, and expanding, a successful business.  She is always willing to go that "extra mile" to help our customers reach their technological goals.  Carole holds the following, current, certifications:  MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator), MCTS (Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist)

Scott Benjamin another B&J technician, joined us in April of 2006 after having worked in technical customer service for over ten years.  A valuable asset to the company, he enjoys linking computers and peripherals to form networks as well as helping our clients solve a wide variety of IT problems.  Often on site with customers, Scott is a familiar face coming to the rescue when the call for help goes out.  His conscientious attitude and persistence let the customers he assists know that they are important.  Scott holds the following current certifications:  A+; MCP (Microsoft Certified Partner)

 Becky Qualls our Project Manager, handles all new projects from conception to completion.  In her other role of Office Manager, she daily proves herself to be the hub that keeps our business running smoothly.  A woman in constant motion, she still always finds the time to give personal attention to each client.  Her experience has often helped guide clients to find the most effective solutions to their technical needs.  Being able to multi-task in these many roles while keeping that smile on her face has helped to make many undertakings a success.

Patrick Roulo, our Office Manager/WDSL Installer., joined us in September of 2007.  In 2006, he obtained a Bachelor’s of Science, majoring in Aviation Maintenance with a minor in Product Support.  His responsibility is to provide our internet customers with all the technical support that they require for their WDSL service; installations, antenna alignments, radio and firewall configurations, etc.  As Office Manager he helps B&J staff prepare for their job-sites by undertaking product research, preparing schedules and a myriad of other responsibilities.

B&J Computers, Inc.'s customers' profiles range from large corporations in Southern Illinois to the single PC user.  Many small businesses utilize B&J Computers, Inc.'s expertise to plan for technology changes as their businesses grow and change. Several very large businesses in the area utilize our company's qualified technicians to service existing equipment and networks.  

In 1997, B&J Computers, Inc. installed its first wireless data transfer system to provide wireless intranet/internet access between two facilities..This installation is still efficiently providing data communications.  

In 1999, satellite internet access was introduced as part of our internet technology offerings. 

In 2003, B&J Computers, Inc. proposed wireless DSL internet access to its clients.  This new service replaced satellite access since, for B&J's customers, it is 
1. faster and more user friendly than telephone dial-up,
2. less expensive per month, costing B&J clients a minimum of 25% less per month than comparable monthly satellite internet access rates plus no "cap" on bandwidth, a common problem for satellite internet access users, 
3. up to 66% faster on the "up-load" (back-haul) than satellite internet access.
